Yoshi-Benoît Sugiyama, Violin maker
Born in Tokyo, Yoshi-Benoît Sugiyama studied at the universities of
Strasbourg, Lausanne and Fribourg, before following the courses offered by
the Newark Violin Making School (UK). From 1995 to 2002, he gained his
practical experience working as a restorer in Gerber-Mastrangelo's
workshop in Lausanne.
He is a member of the professionnal organizations: Association
Suisse des luthiers et archetiers, British Violin Making
Association, Violin Society of America and also of the
Société Française de viole. In 2002 he opened his workshop in Vevey, a
charming and beautiful little town on Lake Geneva (Lac Léman) where
numerous and illustrious musicians always enjoyed staying.
